Delight in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4
What does it mean to be given the desire of my heart? So often I find myself praying to the Lord I am delighting in you Lord, and these are my desires, so why aren’t you giving them to me.
But so often I left it at that, and just found myself delighting in the Lord, and wondering why things just weren’t working out, because I was “delighting” in the Lord.
I knew that this wasn’t true, and that it was just me making it say what I wanted it say. But the other day it really really hit me. Whitney said, “Alyssa go read 2 Corinthians 3:5" –Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.
Instantly my brain is on fire.
All I can now think is Philippians 4:19 –And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. And for once I got it, God really was all I need, and when I am fully delighted in him I realized the desire of my heart would be his desires also.
So that is my daily prayer, that as God removes the crap from my heart, continues to fill me and make me more selfless my desires are becoming his desires—and He is all I need.
