First off, I would like to state that New Zealand is beautiful. BEAUTIFUL. To quote my teammate, Sara, God must have been in a wonderful mood when He made this country, because it is breathtaking. And I haven’t even begun sightseeing. We’ve spent most of our time at our campsite, El Rancho in Waikanae. During my time here, one phrase keeps being repeated: “don’t knock it until you try it”. Eating kiwi fruit with the skin on? Don’t knock it until you try it. Preaching in front of a bunch of strangers? Don’t knock it until you try it. Living without a daily schedule and being completely open to whatever every day throws at you? Don’t knock it until you try it. Eating dinner at people that we randomly met at a church and probably will never see again’s house? Don’t knock it until you try it. Meat pie? The jury’s still out on this experience because I have yet to try meat pie, but I’ve been advised not to knock it until I try it. The moral of this story is that I do not know everything. I know, I know, kind of a “Duh!” moment. But there is nothing like traveling to show me how much I really don’t know! It’s been very freeing to let go of what I know to be safe and experience new things. This next week is going to be a little more stable, schedule-wise, but I’m still excited to have new adventures and broaden my horizon.
