My experience thus far at Passport training camp can be summed up in three words: He is better. He is better than spending my summer my way. He is better than sleeping in and spending my days tanning by the pool. He is better than hanging out with my friends and family. He is better than living in my comfort zone. Now, none of these things are bad things. In fact, they’re all good things, but right now at this point in my life, they are not His highest for me. And where I’m at in my life, I need His highest. I cannot settle for anything less. The Lord began to open the door for me to go to New Zealand back in October 2011, and I am SO thankful that I responded to His call. I am so excited for Him to move in my life and in the lives of everyone I meet. But before I head over to the country of New Zealand, I had to face down training camp. I know that training camp is an important part of this trip, because we can’t be sent out until we’re prepared, etc. But I had not heard the best things about training camp, and I was also way too excited for New Zealand to want to stop off in Georgia for four days. But, after four days here, I am very glad that we have to go through this process. It was wonderful to have time with my team and leader to just get to know and appreciate one another as people, before we go out to the mission field and things start getting intense. It was so necessary for me to spend time worshipping God and entering His presence, because I’ve really needed His presence recently. It was rejuvenating to meet all these new people who are so passionate about God and to know that the Lord is the Lord, no matter where we are. It was so necessary to have my joy in the prophetic restored before I was sent out. And most importantly, I so desperately needed to have the Lord remind me that above all else, He is always better. So, with all these things in mind, I am gearing up to fly out of Atlanta tomorrow for New Zealand. The trip will take two days, but I am excited to have time to rest, reflect and get excited for the country, adventures, and mission ahead of me. Training camp has been good, and it only gets better from here!
